What a day in the Adventure Sailing program is like

Each day starts with boat rigging, a fitness session, and a briefing on the plan for the day.

Sailors in the Adventure program will spend most of a session doing full day outings with their group, returning to the club in time to de-rig and go back home.

What kinds of things will Adventure sailors do?

Some of the kinds of things sailors in the Adventure program will do are:

  • Explore McNab’s and George’s Island
  • Go for ice cream at the Halifax Harbour by boat
  • Have a picnic at the Dingle
  • Sail underneath the Halifax Bridges
  • and more …

What do sailors learn?

Sailors will learn how to efficiently traverse intense weather conditions through exploration of areas outside of the North-West Arm. Lessons will be targeted at developing strategies for dealing with the environment they are sailing in as opposed to traditional racing-based programs which focus on handling other sailors on a race course.

Equipment needed

In addition to food, water, sunglasses, a hat, sunsreen and other personal items, sailors need to bring their own:

  • Lifejacket
  • Sailing gloves
