AYC Sailing School delivers nationally recognized coaching and instruction for all sailing levels in a welcoming and accessible environment.
At AYC Sailing School, we offer programs for all ages and experience levels. We welcome participants in all our programs to take part in Armdale Yacht Club’s activities and racing competitions.
While the majority of our on-water programs take place during the spring, summer, and fall seasons, we also offer classroom and theory- based educational sessions in the winter months.

Our location
We are based at Armdale Yacht Club, on the historic Melville Island, in the heart of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Our instructors
Our instructors have extensive training, experience and are Sail Canada certified and evaluated. They follow Sail Canada program curriculum in their teaching and prioritize safety to ensure all participants have positive, exciting experiences.
Our programs
- Our Junior Sailing programs help build strong sailing skills by progressively teaching fundamental sailing skills and learning on a variety of platforms.
- Our Keelboat program supports learning to sail on larger boats for extended periods of time.
Our focus on safey
Providing a safe, respectful and inclusive environment is our number one priority. Our coaches have extensive on-water safety training and first aid certifications and have been trained in Sail Canada’s Safe Sport program.
Our sailing programs for youth and adults follow Sail Canada‘s CANSail and Keelboat program standards.
